VCLP/UNCE – Human Rights Research Centre is a project of Faculty of Law, Charles University, which represents leading academic institution in the area of Law in the Czech Republic.
In the first stage of its existence the Centre is determined to promote scientific debate over both a theoretical foundations and methods of research on human rights as well.
The Centre itself is committed to the promotion of human rights and the rule of law. It carries out a research, publications, conferences and workshops. Under the scope of the Centre, smaller research groups are formed, which concentrate on individual partial topics of research. However UNCE also promote a regular exchange of views in the broader interdisciplinary group at the same time.
Furthermore UNCE unites research work of junior participants and senior experts from different departments of the Faculty of Law, and thus promote an important task of sharing experience with younger professionals.
The Centre also reflects new trends of human rights law at the international level, such as so called new human rights. At the national level a focus is directed to the case law and to the comparison of interpretation and application of rules protecting human rights between different states and diverse legal cultures over time.
